update on nat

nat's pediatrician, who i very much trust, thinks her bruising is just congestion and swelling of the veins under the eyes... also known as "allergic shiners."

praise God it's nothing more serious!

she has been a little sneezy lately. so have her brothers. zachary has a full blown nasty cold. the strange thing is, the bruising hasn't been back for two days. but maybe that's not so strange?

here's a picture of nat and her shiner

we go back for another appointment in two weeks. will give another nattie update then. thank you for your prayers. muah!

say a prayer for natalie

natalie has a funky bruise under her eye. it's not really a bruise, because it comes and goes. she has an appointment tomorrow to get it checked out. it's hard not to worry.

other than the bruise, she is her normal happy self.

say a prayer for our sweet girl that all is well.

i married my best friend.

we've had so much fun these past 10 years, babe! i can't wait to see what the next 10 bring. and i hope the person who takes our movie tickets in 2021 asks if we are both 17. that was pretty awesome.

feeling crafty

Photobucket

recently i have been feeling crafty. i think it's my brains way of saying it needs a break from the daily grind.

i got a sewing machine for christmas. the only thing i've ever sewn in my life was an apron. when i was in girl scouts. 25 years ago.

with that said, getting a sewing machine was exciting, but a little scary, too. i want to use it, but come on, i've got four kids... when and how ever am i going to learn to sew?

i've come to the conclusion that i just need to take it out and start working.

so i did. i made a flag banner for the boys' room. and guess what... it was easy and fun and it felt good to do something for me.

Photobucket
gathered some scrapbook paper i purchased from the dollar spot at target

Photobucket
cut out triangle shapes

Photobucket
made a fold at the top and stitched it together

Photobucket
strung flags together with yarn

i still need to hang it in the boys' room. i'm fairly certain they won't care about this little project. sure they'll say it's cool, but this wasn't about them anyway. it was about me--doing something fun to me.

what is something you've done for yourself recently?

back to life, back to reality

today was the first day back to school for me and the big boys. it's always hard going back after a break, but i know next week will be even harder.

i survived my first work day back without coffee this morning. thank you diet dr. pepper for carrying me through the long afternoon.

the boys were happy to see their friends and find the missing lunchbox (eww!) they were a lot less bummed about going back to school than i was. however, it will be good to get back into a routine--that i know.

ben had a great day. all he said was "it was fuuuun!" natalie's day was not so great. my girl doesn't like her milk from a bottle. sigh.

2011

so far you haven't been that great. i know it's only the first day, but really, you could have started out better.

it could be worse. it could always be worse. so i will try to look on the bright side. this year i am hopeful for more craft thursdays, more healthy meals, more family fun, and fewer trips to the doctor.

right now i have a target gift card burning a hole in my pocket. retail therapy anyone?

what are you hopeful for in 2011?
