mary mary quite contrary,
how does your garden grow?

i looked up that little nursery rhyme online and it doesn't seem so sweet anymore. mary is mary tudor, also known as bloody mary and the garden is a graveyard? craziness!

anyway, happy thing #2... my garden is planted!

true, it is a little late in the season, thanks to mother nature and the wintry spring we've had. but summers around here seem to last through september and into october, so i say it's all good.

as you have probably noticed, i am having fun making collages with picnik!

while working in the backyard i was once again amazed by the family of squirrels who live here:

the tree doesn't even look that tall in this picture.  if it says anything about the height, i couldn't get a shot of the whole tree in one frame. in this photo you can't even see the top of the 8 ft. fence that stands next to these trees. generations of this squirrel family have made their home waaaay high up that palm tree on the right. i don't know much about squirrels, but does this seem odd to anyone else?

i will try to get a video of them running up and down that tree. it's amazing!

to answer yesterday's question, taylor ignored zach's comment. zach came over and offered to help. he helped a bit and then went off to play. the weeds in the backyard were even worse than the weeds in the front.

so do you have a garden planted this year? if so, what are you growing?

I have planted 3 types of tomatoes, 2 cucumber, 1 zucchini, 3 romaine lettuces, 2 peppers and 2 strawberries. It has been sort of icky up here (not much nice weather) so far, so I am hoping it warms up at some time so my plants actually get to grow! Julie, your plants look good. The squirrel thing does sound a little wacky. If you can get a video that would be great!!

I have planted a very small garden with 4 tomato plants, 3 green pepper plants, 1 pumpkin plant and 1 green bean plant (thanks to Jayden getting the green bean plant from her school). Now I wish I would have planted cucumbers and zucchini. But in my small little deck garden there just isn't room for all of that. We've had lots and lots of rain, so they have really grown a lot since I planted them. Already have quite a few tomatoes on the plants.
Can't wait to see how my one pumpkin plant grows. Hopefully we will have some pumpkins for Halloween:)
